A little more than half of the NBA season, and the commissioner Adam Silver’s The search for ways to improve the league appears in full swing.
This week, La Plata raised a change of drastic rule during the duration of the rooms during NBA games.
The NBA plays 12 -minute rooms. If the NBA adopted a silver proposal, those periods would be reduced by two minutes. The ten -minute rooms would take eight minutes from the game watch.

Silver said the reduction could create a more “consistent” presentation for basketball fans who watch games on television.
“I am a 10 -minute quarter fan.” Silver told “The Dan Patrick Show” when asked about the most drastic ideas that the NBA has considered.
“I am not sure that many others are … leaving aside what it means to albums and things like that. I think a two -hour format for a game is more consistent with modern television habits. People in the sands do not They are asking us to shorten the game, but … as a television program, Olympic basketball is two hours.
At one point, Silver cited the duration of the games played in other leagues around the world.
“The NBA is the only league (basketball) that plays 48 minutes … It is such a dramatic change in the game … something like that would have to be spoken more over time.”

During the Summer Olympic GamesBasketball games last 40 minutes. University basketball games in the United States are divided into 20 minutes.
“Because this game is so global, one of the things we would like to see with time is to create a more consistent world consistent rules throughout the game,” said Silver.
Silver said that shaving two minutes outside the rooms could reduce the wear of the players in an 82 -game season, while potentially helps the league to fight their “cargo management” problem.
“By the way, if you had gone to a 40 -minute game, with the problems around loading and rest, it would be the equivalent of … taking about 15 games of the season,” said Silver.
Silver made it clear that the ideas he mentioned during the exchange with Patrick had simply discussed, but are not close to being adopted.
“It’s not at that level,” he said.
La Plata also praised Major Leagues Baseball To add a launch clock. He argued that the change helped “accelerate the game”, while maintaining the traditional aspects of the game in place.

“I am a baseball fan, and I think some of those changes have really increased the type of commitment … the entertainment value of the game, so I am paying close attention to that,” said Silver.
“And, in fact, I have used the launch clock … at the NBA meetings to say … we must not be afraid to look at the changes.”
