Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s lawyers were in court on Monday to discuss what you can and cannot be told to the public on behalf of their clients.
A judge ordered the legal teams of the stars that follow the rules of professional behavior of New York, which limit talking to the press. None of the parties can make statements to the press that have a “substantial probability” to harm a jury. However, legal teams may defend their client in the media against advertising not created by any of the parties.
The respective legal teams of Lively and Baldoni appeared in a federal court on Monday to discuss a possible gag order and the actress’s refusal to allow the “Jane The Virgin” star lawyer to lead his statement. A proposed protection order must be presented on March 11 and the date of the trial is still scheduled for March 2026.
Lively had specifically accused Baldoni’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, to attack his character in statements shared with the media. However, Freedman seemed “pleased” with the result of the judicial hearing on Monday.
“Our clients are devastated and want to move the case as quickly as possible,” Fredman told journalists outside the court. “We just could not be more satisfied with how the case was handled today, how it was handled.”
“We are going to move as quickly as possible and demonstrate our innocence, in a world where people sometimes judge you before giving you a chance. And we are going to change that.”

Lively’s team said they are “satisfied with the result of today’s audience and anxious to immediately advance with the discovery in this case.”
“The Court granted our request that all lawyers in the matter will follow the rule of law and do not form any statement that may harm a jury,” said Lively’s lawyers, Michael Gottlieb and Esra Hudson, in a statement provided to Fox Digital News.
“This case deals with serious accusations of sexual harassment and reprisals. We will be responsible for the defendants, and we are sure that once all evidence occurs in this matter, Mrs. Lively will prevail.”

Before the hearing, Lively’s lawyers criticized Baldoni’s lawyer for making multiple statements to the media that could finally contaminate the jury if the actress’s sexual harassment complaints against Baldoni arrive at a courtroom.
