Ryan García’s main fight against Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero will have the regular Welter ‘weight title of the AMB on the line for his poster head on Turki al-Sheikh card in May on Times Square.
None of the fighters are classified in the Top 15 of the AMB in 147 or by any of the other three sanctioning bodies of the division. The former Welter Champion of ABM Rolly, 29, occupies the #8 position in 140 but not in 147.
Fans feel that there should not be a belt at stake for the fight because Ryan Garcia is leaving a one -year suspension for being reviewed by a pedd last April. Going from a suspension directly to a photo of the world title looks so bad. I don’t know what to say about that. Having Rolly fighting for a title makes it look even worse.
By The ringRyan (24-1, 20 kos) and Rolly (16-2, 13 kos) will fight for the WELTER ‘regular’ weight title of the AMB.
It is not clear what is the justification of the World Boxing Association to have its regular Welter ‘weight title at stake for García vs. clash. Rosemary. Even so, it makes sense in terms of advertising that these two fight for these two.
Only for the show
The secondary AMB belt that fights will validate the fight of Ryan-Rolly in the eyes of some fans. It would look better if the fight was an eliminator of a belt instead of a title, since neither of them has fought. With the way things are now Low the fight Having a title on the line that García and Romero do not deserve to fight.
Rolly was knocked out in the eighth round last year by Isaac Cruz on March 30 and comes from a unanimous decision of 10 unpringed rounds against the second level fighter Manuel Jaimes on September 14.
Fans see Romero as a low -level fighter. His victory for the 140 lb title of the AMB over Ismael Barroso in May 2023 was one of the most controversial matches I have seen. That fight was a spooky appearance.
Rolly threw five blows, all missing, and the referee intervened and stopped the fight, giving him a new knockout victory of Barroso. It seemed bad. In Rolly’s first defense of his Amb belt, Pitbull Cruz started him from the water.
Romero is more like a comedian than a boxer, and has never defeated anyone well without controversy. His controversial victories over Barroso and Jackson Marínez were disturbing because he deserved defeats in both fights.
