Senator Tim Kaine, a Democrat of Virginia, was pressed on Sunday why his party was “so unpopular” during an interview about the “State of the Union” of CNN.
“Why is your group so surprisingly unpopular with the public?” CNN Jake Tapper host asked.
The CNN guest pointed out the results of a Quinnipiac survey that found that only 31% of Americans see the Democratic party favorablyand 57% have an unfavorable vision of the party.
“Jake, you know me. I am a virginian. I know a state well and not so well the other 49. In Virginia, we have gone from one of the most ruby red states in the country to now have put electoral votes behind the Democrats five in a row. In Virginia.

“On the democratic side in Virginia, and I think we can do this at the national level. We talk about doing, building, growing. We want to do it here. We want to build it here. And in Ag (riculture). And forestry, we want to grow here. In the Economy, which is their main concern, for what they have wonders about us, “Kaine added.
Kaine said the party should return to the “basic concepts of bread and butter.”
Tapper backed Kaine and pointed out that the State had a Republican governor, Governor Glenn Youngkin.
“I don’t want to get into the weeds of Virginia’s politics, but his governor is a Republican, and easily defeated a former Democratic governor when he ran for that position,” Tapper said.

“For 1.8%,” Kaine replied. “The last two Republicans who won the governorate in Virginia won by comfortable two digits. Our governor is a Republican. He ran for a very good year to be a republican, and won, barely.”
The Senator of Virginia also expressed hope for the state governor elections this year and said that the Democrats had a good opportunity.
“I think that the governor’s career in Virginia, November 2025, will be the first chimney test of a democratic return. And I feel very, very well with that at this time,” he added.

Kaine has criticized several of the first executive actions of President Donald Trump, including the offer of offers for the purchase of federal employees, which is part of a greater effort to ensure that federal employees return to the office.
The Democratic Senator has argued that Trump “rigid” employees who accept purchase offers.
“He has no authority to do this. He is not deceiving for this type,” said Virginia’s Democrat.
