How good is the shields of Classa ‘T-Rex’?

On Sunday night, at the Dort Financial Center in Flint, Michigan, twice Olympic gold medalist Classa ‘T-Rex’ Shields in the main event defeated Danielle Perkins, now 5-1, with a tenth round after nine Boring rounds. The victory gave the shields the heavyweight titles of the IBF, WBO, WBA, WBC and WBF.

Both weighed less than 175 pounds, and perhaps in female boxing, which is heavy, although in masculine boxing, it is a semi -marked weight.

Shields has received strong criticism for defending his title against someone with only five fights. Sometimes, he seemed doubts about the large size of his opponent to involve it in the battle to the posterior rounds.

As a writer, I covered the Shields fight in April 2019 against Christina Hammer de Kazakhstan, then 24-0, outside Germany, who was the medium weight champion of the WBC and the OMB. Every time Hammer attacked, American referee Sparkle Lee interferes, stopping his attack. Although the scores were 99-91 twice and 98-92, it was my opinion, Hammer was treated unfairly.

In the hammer dressing room, I wanted to tell him how she was cheated, but the promoter Tom Loeffler was standing there telling me not to mention it. Once she left the room, I told her how she was still a champion in my opinion. A woman sitting there, whom I have no idea who she was, cried for the loss.

Hammer took the loss very strong, just fighting in four winning times since then. In his second game, he won the WIBF medium -sized vacant title in Germany, as well as all his other games. After his last victory in May 2022, he retired with a 2-1 and 13 knockout record.

Since then, Shields has won seven games, with his previous fight on an opponent with a 7-1 record.

When looking back to other boxers, several come to mind, such as Ibo and the super light champion of Wibf Lucia ‘The Dutch Destroyer’ Rijker, 17-0 with 14 stops from the Netherlands. The other is the semi-marked weight champion I was going and Wiba Ann ‘Brown Sugar’ Wolfe, 24-1 with 16 Waco stops, Texas, a blunt woman.

Other well-known are the daughter of the former heavyweight worldwide champion Muhammad ‘The Greatest’ Ali, WBC and Wiba Super Middlewight Champion Laila ‘She Bee Stingin’ Ali, 24-0 with 21 births, who retired when she became pregnant.

One of his opponents was the daughter of former heavyweight champion ‘Smokin’ Joe Frazier, ‘Sister Smoke’ Jacqui Frazier Lyde, 13-1 with nine stoppages, GBU Super Middleweight and UBA heavyweight champion. Another was the WBC Christy ‘Coalminer’s Daughter’ Martin, 49-7-3 super welter champion with 32 stops, a female boxing pioneer.

The 2012 Olympic gold medalist WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, and the super light champion of Ibo, Katie Taylor, 24-1 with 6 stops, from Ireland.

The Wibf Super Flyweight champion, Regina Halmich, 54-1-1 with 16 strikes, had a lot of weak opposition with 40 defenses for the title.
