They sold us all lies: it’s not addictive, it’s better than coffee, it’s no problem. And all my heroes did it, so I said, “Okay.” And it started well … but it was bad, because it just turned into this strange dark thing. It became a cloak and dagger -. (People said) “No, I have nothing.” It was a matter of addiction that people lied to us about. ”
A guitarist and a renowned musician of the session stressed that he now has a very different view of life than when drugs on the rock scene did not check.
“Even in your youth you just don’t know how long you left,” he said. “I think today could be my last day.” I could go tonight. I am at an age when every day above the ground is a bonus. I’m 67 years old, man. I didn’t have a drink or smoke for 16 years, but during the day I did it quite well. I protected wherever I went. ”
Lukather continued, “No matter where you are, people would say,“ Oh, yeah, come, we’ll meet those in the bar. “It’s really easy to get to a point where it’s your everyday life. And it starts harmless and nice as it is when you are young, and suddenly you are 50 and you go, “I can’t do it anymore.”
Lukather continues to lead this for almost half a century because it was for their estimated 50 million records sold worldwide by a driving creative force.
