The actor Benedict Cumberbatch said that “he had to apologize” on numerous occasions for playing a non -binary character as a gag in the movie “Zoolander 2.”

“The Cumberbatch character is clearly portrayed as an exaggerated mockery of Androgyne/Trans/No Binary,” the petition said. “This is the modern equivalent of using the black face to represent a minority.”
