#3 Subriel Matias (21-2, 21 kos) faces #4 Gabriel Valenzuela (30-3, 17 kos) in a 12 round welter weight title eliminator next March 1 in Fajardo, Puerto Rico. The fight will decide the next mandatory for the 140 -pound champion of the FII, Richardson Hitchins. The event will be shown Live in Dazn.
Gabriel Valenzuela, 30, is not known by fans, since he has fought for most of his 10 -year professional career in his native Mexico. In recent years, he has traveled for fights, losing to Montana Love for a unanimous 12 rounds on May 7, 2022, in Las Vegas, defeating Steve Spark and Yves Ulysse Jr.
The loss of Valenzuela to love is a sign of how limited it is like a fighter because this guy is not a 10 main level fighter. If Gabriel has not made improvements since that defeat, he will not last long against Matias.
The former FIB champion, Matias, lost his belt a year ago against Liam stopped for a unanimous 12 rounds decision in a fight that looked like a street fight due to Aussie’s Roughhouse’s tactics.
Matias could have easily won that fight if the referee had been at his work, watching the pushes of unemployment and rabbit blows. However, unemployment was a confrontation of bad style, and Matias needed to adapt when it was clear that the referee was taking a leaveNon -intervention approach to control dirty.
“Fighting in my hometown, in front of my people, is an additional honor and motivation,” said Subriel Matias. “I know that Valenzuela will be prepared, but I am ready to demonstrate why I deserve another photo in the title. On March 1, Fajardo will witness a great battle. “
“This fight will be a classic,” said Gabriel Valenzuela. “I am proud to represent my country while fighting another world title back to Mexico.”
Recently, Matias was in negotiations with Wbo Light Teofimo López Welter champion, but the fight could not occur after the Teo Teo of the best promotion decided that money was not good enough and did not want to fight in the West coast.
Boxing fans saw him as an example that López feared losing to Matias, so he prepared a couple of excuses to tell fans.
