Food transport and delivery application Super It is opening its “interest list” to users in Austin, Texas, who want to be the first in the Waymo Robotaxis line there.

The company said in a statement that users “can travel through 37 square miles of Austin, from Hyde Park, to the center, to Montopolis,” when the Uber-Waymo service is launched soon.

The so -called “Interest List” allows users to receive Uber updates and reinforce their chances of being paired with a Waymo autonomous vehicle when launched.

The vehicles that will be part of the Austin service are the Jaguar iPace electrical models equipped with Waymo driverless systems and labeled with the Waymo and Uber brand.

Waymo’s walks in Austin will only be available through the Uber application, unlike San Francisco and Los Angeles, where cyclists pass them through the Waymo One application.

Before the pressure of investors to intensify their autonomous vehicle strategy after Tesla Promised that he would soon start producing robotaxis, Uber last year said he had begun to try a transport application with some of his employees.

Although Tesla does not manufacture vehicles that are sure to use without a human driver, ready to direct or stop at all times, Elon Musk’s car manufacturer in January said that “it will begin to launch” a driver without a transport business ” At the end of this year “starting in Austin.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, the evidence and the operation of a Robotaxi commercial service in the state do not require the same types of special licenses and permits that other states require.

“The Texas Law allows AV tests and operations on Texas roads whenever they meet the same safety requirements and surely any other vehicle on the road,” said a spokesman from the department to CNBC by email.

The CEO of Uber, Dara Khosrowshahi, is expected to discuss the impact of automated driving systems, or autonomous cars, in the company’s general business and strategy in a gain call from the fourth quarter on Wednesday.
