The president of the United States, Donald Trump, has signed an executive order that prevents transgender women from competing in female sports categories.
The order provides guidance, regulations and legal interpretations, and will enlist the Department of Education to investigate the secondary schools that are believed to be not complied with.
Republicans say that justice restores sports, but LGBT defense and human rights organizations have described movement as discriminatory.
The order, which immediately enters into force, largely covers secondary school, universities and base sports.
Several sports government organs, including swimming, athletics and golf, have prohibited transgender women from competing in the women’s female category if they have passed through male puberty.
According to White House officials who informed journalists on Wednesday morning, this last order empowers the Department of Education to investigate how schools implement title IX, a law of the United States that prohibits sexual discrimination in programs in the programs of education financed by the federal government.
