A river route in a suburb of the capital of Argentina, Buenos Aires, became bright red on Thursday, alarming locals.
The Sarandí channel flows through residential neighborhoods and industrial areas before reaching a estuary, the Río de la Plata, which limits with an ecological reserve.
The local media reports suggested that the color may have been caused by the discharge of the textile dye or by the chemical waste of a nearby tank.
The authorities have taken samples to determine the source of pollution.
