A federal judge said Friday that he would not immediately block the Government Efficiency Department, or Doge, to access systems in the Labor Department.
The United States District Judge, John Bates, said he had worries about Doge, but that the unions they demanded to block their access to systems have not yet provided evidence of any legal injury.
“Although the court houses concerns about the alleged conduct of the defendants, it must deny the motion of the plaintiffs at this time,” Bates wrote.
The Labor Department has investigated companies such as Spacex and Tesla that are owned by ELON ALMIZCLEwho leads Doge and maintains records about these investigations. The department also has information about the commercial secrets of these competitors of these companies, the unions said in the demand.
The Occupational Health and Safety Administration of the department has investigated and fined with Spacex and Tesla on the safety of workers, the unions said.
The work department systems contain medical and financial records of millions of Americans, including those who have filed security complaints about their employers.
The failure comes after Trump administration Agreed earlier this week that Dege would not receive access to the Department of Labor until this judicial decision.
The Department of Justice said that there are three Doge employees assigned to the Department of Labor and informing their interim secretary, although special employees of the government have been made and are obliged to follow the law with any delicate information about corporations or workers as they carry out A review.
The Musk Doge team had obtained access to payment systems from the Department of Catholic Treasury, although since then a judge has blocked access to treasure records that contain confidential personal data, such as Social Security and bank accounts numbers for millions of Americans. Dege has also largely dismantled the United States Agency for International Development and offered financial incentives to millions of federal workers to resign.
“In each step, Doge is violating multiple laws, from constitutional limits in the Executive Power, to laws that protect public officials from arbitrary threats and adverse actions, to crucial protections for government data collected and stored in hundreds of millions of millions of millions of millions Americans, “the lawyers of the labor unions represented by the Democracy Forward Defense Group wrote.
The leadership of the Labor Department told a member of the union this week that Dege would be visiting and that workers should let them do “what they ask, not to go back, not ask questions,” the unions wrote.
