More than 100 people were evacuated from a luxury residential tower in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, when a fire spread on several floors, said emergency services.
Forty people were treated by smoke inhalation and several others were admitted to the hospital before controlling the fire.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
The 50 -story building is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Puerto Madero.
Alberto Crescenti, head of the emergency services of Buenos Aires, told the local media that the fire had “extended to the 15th floor.”
Broken glass fell from the windows, he said.
“Fortunately, it was a very fast evacuation, which means that people are not at risk,” he added.
Firefighter Christian Benítez told the AFP news agency that all residents were out of danger.
“I heard the fire alarm and lowered the stairs as quickly as I could,” said Ornella Gril, 30, at the AFP outside the building.
Mariano Pavone, a former popball who played for the Argentine giants of the River River and the Spanish Real Betis club, who lives in the building, told the Argentine news news agency: “I saw smoke and ceded with my son and my dog .
“Fortunately, nothing happened to my floor. I am anxious for my neighbors. Fortunately it was just a scare.”
