A senior figure in the Ukraine Intelligence Service (SBU) has been arrested under suspicion of working as a Russian agent.
The service did not appoint the man, who said he was the head of personnel of his anti -terrorism center, but the Ukrainian media citing sources in the SBU say it is Col Dmytro Kozyura.
Local media showed him handcuff while arrested by SBU Vasyl Mallyuk.
A statement said there were at least 14 cases in which the suspect, which he described as a “rat, had compiled and transmitted information to Russia. The SBU said the investigation implied audio and video monitoring, as well as to obtain access to mobile phones and computers.
Since the large -scale invasion of Russia in February 2022, Ukraine has announced numerous operations to expose Russian agents on their ground.
Malluk had personally participated in the investigation into the suspect and directed the operation to arrest him, said SBU’s statement, added that he directly reported on his progress to President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He said that the Federal Security Service of Russia (FSB) recruited it in Vienna in 2018. It was “motmalado” for several years and its managers only resumed contact with him last December.
“Thanks to the markers of encrypted programs, we got into the traitor’s devices: mobile terminals, computers,” Mallyuk said in a video statement published on the SBU website.
“We basically live with him, we perform audio and video monitoring. In the process of all this, we managed to efficiently document the collection and transmission of relevant information by the traitor to the enemy.”
Mallyuk added that the SBU had been feeding Moscow’s misinformation during the course of the investigation.
“SBU’s self -control continues. It doesn’t matter how the enemy tries to penetrate our ranks … he can’t do it successfully. Because we detect them in a timely manner, document them and stop them.”
