Worcester City Council in Massachusetts voted in favor of a resolution to become a Sanctuary City For those transgender and gender Tuesdays.
During a long meeting of the City Council, approximately 200 people from the LGBT+ community arrived to show their support for resolution, often expressing their concern for their safety under the new Trump administration.
A speaker, wearing a purple wig, a pearl necklace and white gloves, said the city needs to protect it because the federal government will not do so, and is “afraid of Trump.”

The speaker, who also claimed to have a multitude of disabilities, addressed the fears that the city would become an objective of the administration and lost federal funds if the measure was approved, then issued a warning.
“If he tells him that he is afraid of Trump and that is why he does not want the city to be a safe space for trans people, it is better to prepare for trans people to make this a very insecure space,” he said.

The City Council approved the resolution by a 9-2 vote after the 5-hour meeting, according to WCVBHe also reported, “the measure reiterated the city’s commitment to transgender rights and equal protection. It also recognizes the importance of medical care affirmed by gender.”
