Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum said Thursday that his government was deciding whether to initiate a lawsuit against Google for renowing the Gulf of Mexico, the Gulf of America in Google Maps.
“We are going to wait. We are seeing, observing what this would mean from the perspective of legal advice, but we hope they do a review,” said Sheinbaum, according to Reuters.

Sheinbaum has denounced the move, saying that the name of the Gulf of Mexico has been recognized internationally.
“Everything we ask to Google is to see the decree that the White House Released and that President Donald Trump signed. You will see in that decree that it does not refer to the whole Gulf, “said Sheinbaum.

“If necessary, we will file a civil demand,” he added. “Our legal area is already investigating what would mean, but we hope that (Google) reconsider.”
Apart from Google, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) sent a graphics notice that confirmed that their systems were in the process of updating the name, in addition to updating the newly called Mount McKinley in Alaska, previously known as Denali.
