New York City Mayor Eric Adams On Thursday, he said that he was working on a plan to allow federal immigration authorities to operate at Rikers Island after a meeting with the Tom Homan border tsar, a significant step given the city’s sanctuary policies.
Adams met Homan during a closed door. In a statement, he said that he was working in an executive order to “restore the ability of ICE agents to operate in Rikers Island, as was the case for 20 years.”
“But now, on the other hand, ICE agents would focus specifically on helping the Correctional Intelligence Office in their criminal investigations, particularly those centered on criminals and violent gangs,” he added.

Adams said the couple argued how to combat violent migrant gangs and embed more officers of the New York Police Department in federal work forces.
Unlike many mayors of Blue City, Adams has expressed interest in working with the Trump administration to take energetic measures illegal immigration in an effort to combat crime.
He pointed out that New York assumed a greater number of migrants transported to blue cities from the southern border.
“New York City has been forced to assume the burden of a national humanitarian crisis where more than 230,000 migrants have come to our city seeking support, at a cost of approximately $ 7 billion, with little help from the previous administration” Said Adams.

“That is why I have been clear that I want to work with the new federal administration, not the war with them, to find common land and improve the life of New York,” he added.
The meeting occurred days after the Department of Justice ordered federal prosecutors to drop a Founder case against Adams.
The interim attached attorney general, Emil Bove, sent a letter to the interim American prosecutor for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) on Monday, instructing the SDNY to leave the federal case against Adams and dismiss it without prejudice.

In response, the US Prosecutor Danielle Sassoon resigned on Thursday in a letter to the attorney general Pam Bondi.
Meanwhile, the Trump administration has taken a hard position against the Sanctuary cities. On Wednesday, Bondi took into account New York and other cities.
“This is a new justice department,” journalists told journalists while Announcing a demand against officials of the state of New York and the Government. “New York has chosen to prioritize illegal foreigners over US citizens. He stops. He stops today.”
