Mother and children die from injuries in Munich’s car attack

Germany has been mourning for the attack that took place on Thursday

A 37 -year -old mother, and her two -year -old daughter died, two days after a car was taken to a multitude of people in the city of Munich in Germany, police said.

At least 37 people were injured in the attack, several of them seriously.

The driver was a 24 -year -old Afghan asylum seeker, police said, identified in local media as Farhad N, who was arrested in the scene.

Prosecutors have said that the suspect seemed to have a religious motivation.

“Unfortunately, we have to confirm the deaths today of the two -year -old girl and her 37 -year -old mother,” police spokesman Ludwig Waldinger said on Saturday to the AFP news agency.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Munich’s public prosecutor Gabriele Tilmann said that the suspect had said “Allahu Akbar” (God is bigger) as he was arrested, which he suggested meant that “he could have had an Islamist motivation “

Thursday’s car branching in Munich’s heart occurred 10 days before the Germans go at the polls in federal elections eclipsed by a series of previous attacks carried out by immigrants.

Two of the alleged attackers had come from Afghanistan.
