The promoter of Jack Catterall, Eddie Hearn, feels that he deserved the victory against Arnold Barboza Jr. last Saturday night in his fight for the interim Welter weight title of the OMB in the Live Arena cooperative in Manchester, England.
Hearn says that Catterall (30-2, 13 kos) had done enough to overcome the fight winning the twelfth round, and was surprised that they did not give him the victory. He states that normally, when visiting combatants come to the United Kingdom, they have to do a little more to win a decision.
Catterall fought as always, using his retirement method, which he certainly learned when he looked Shakur Stevenson and destroyed his chances of winning. Interestingly, when Catterall let his hands go, he was finding success, connecting cleanly most of the time. But Jack was reduced by focusing too much on his defense and not enough in his offensive. It was the same 90-10 imbalance Of defense about the offensive we see with Shakur, so it is poison for the eyes and the fans booed. Catterall has the same problem.
Hearn will only have to live with that. Catterall has the wrong style to defeat the aggressive fighters with talented, as we saw with their loss against Barboza. The problem will continue to appear when Catterall finally faces people like Richardson Hitchins and Ernesto Mercado. He will be too focused on defense and will work.
The judges saw the most aggressive Barboza Jr. (32-0, 11 kos) as the best fighter, scoring a divided decision of 12 rounds. It is not surprising that Hearn complains about the decision because if his fighter, cattelll, he would have won, he would have put it in a position to be elevated to the full state of the Omba championship when Teofimo López chose to divert it.
Hearn excuses for cattell
“I don’t think any of them has done enough if I’m honest. In that type of fight, you always have to do a little more, “said Eddie Hearn to Fight Hub TVDiscussing his fighter, Jack Catteral’s defeat against Arnold Barboza Jr. on Saturday night in Manchester.
“After entering the ring later, Barboza said: ‘Yes’. I said: ‘That’s close.’ He was, “that’s not close.” I was: ‘It’s 7-5 anyway.’ In fact, I thought that Catterall overcame the twelfth to erase the fight, but each judge gave Barboza the twelfth.
“You can’t complain. Each judge had 115-113 in any way. I could have done. He should have done a little more, “Hearn said when asked what he could have made a cattell.” A little more to win. “I only know more aggressive. See twice, support. You are waiting. The two in the middle was working most of the time, but it wasn’t launching enough. “
Hearn has to face the truth. Catterall did not do enough to win on Saturday night because he was too worried about not being beaten by Barboza Jr. did not like the sharp accountants with which the native of the south of California was nailing it. Then, instead of moving forward and letting their hands leave, Catterall was retiring throughout the ring to avoid being labeled.
Basically he renounced the ship with only resistance to the file. Call it coward. The meat was willing, but the mind was weak. I see it all the time with fighters. They have physical skill, but they are mentally weak. Catterall was a classic example last Saturday, and Hearn is having difficulty facing the truth. This will happen again, believe me.
“In the middle part of the fight, it allowed Barboza (Domara). At first, I had it 2-1, 3-1 catterall, and then Barboza won six, seven, eight, that type of period, ”said Hearn. “Then Jack returned a little, but I felt he went out a little. He (Catterall) let him slip. That is the key.
“When I say, ‘neither of them did enough’, it was really the same. Unido, “said Hearn.
As you can see when reading this, Hearn basically says that visiting combatants to the United Kingdom get the axis when it comes to judging. I respect his honesty to put it as it is, but it is good that Barboza Jr. has been treated fairly in this case
“When they said: ‘115-113’ At the end of the Polish judge, I thought: ‘I think we have it.’ The American judge was 115-113,” said Hearn. “The judge of the United Kingdom was 115-113, of the others Forms.
“I think he will kick,” Hearn said about Catterall. “It’s easy to say ‘do a little more’, because if you do more, they counteract you. Barboza is also a good fighter. He has cunning power. I feel that now is the time you could kick yourself for not doing a little more.
“We’ll see what happens to Teofimo. Finally, Teofimo will probably fight against Richardson Hitchins, and then the winner will have to fight Barboza. If the title is vacant, maybe Jack is again with a chance in the rematch, ”said Hearn.
