The Mavericks coach Darrell Armstrong, arrested for aggravated assault collection

The assistant coach of the Dallas Mavericks, Darrell Armstrong, was arrested in the early hours of Saturday and accused of aggravated assault on his girlfriend, police said.

Armstrong has been an assistant coach with the Mavericks since 2009, being part of the 2011 NBA champions team along the way.

He is a member of the Orlando magic Hall of Fame, after having spent nine of his 14 seasons of the NBA with the franchise. Armstrong initially played abroad since 1991-94 before magic gave him a chance during the 1994-95 season.

Armstrong won the most improved player award in 1998-99 and the sixth Man’s award of the year after averaging 13.8 points, 6.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds mostly outside the bank in more than 50 games.
