Armstrong has been an assistant coach with the Mavericks since 2009, being part of the 2011 NBA champions team along the way.

He is a member of the Orlando magic Hall of Fame, after having spent nine of his 14 seasons of the NBA with the franchise. Armstrong initially played abroad since 1991-94 before magic gave him a chance during the 1994-95 season.

Armstrong won the most improved player award in 1998-99 and the sixth Man’s award of the year after averaging 13.8 points, 6.7 assists and 3.6 rebounds mostly outside the bank in more than 50 games.
