Japan’s economy expands 0.7% in the fourth quarter, exceeding expectations

Japan’s economic expansion in the fourth quarter exceeded the expectations of analysts for the growth of the quarter against quarter and annualized, they showed the preliminary government data on Monday.

GDP grew 0.7% quarter in quarter, More of the 0.3% increase expected by economists surveyed by Reuters. Had expanded by a revised 0.4% in the previous quarter.

On an annualized basis, GDP grew 2.8%, exceeding 1%reuters estimate.

GDP data on Monday is in the context of the Central Bank of Japan that increases rates to 0.5%, its highest level since October 2008, and offers more space to maintain monetary adjustment.
