Israeli troops remain within the south of Lebanon while the forces withdraw

Israel has separated its forces from the south of Lebanon, apart from five positions, says the state news agency of Lebanon. The withdrawal of Israel is a key part of the high fire that ended a one -year conflict with the Shiite militant group Hezbollah.

Israeli ministers said some troops would remain within Lebanon to protect communities in northern Israel.

In response, Lebanon said Israel must be completely withdrawn. He said he would consider “the continuous Israeli presence in any inch of Lebanese territory an occupation.”

The high fire requires Israel to retire and so that the Army of Lebanon replaces all armed groups south of the Litani River, about 30 km (20 miles) north of Israel.

Hezbollah was the dominant force in the area for decades, but was very damaged in the conflict, the most mortal fought with Israel since the militant group was formed in 1982.

The Lebanese authorities say that more than 3,960 people, many of them civilians, were killed during hostilities, and a million others were displaced from areas where Hezbollah had a strong presence.

Most of those displaced in Lebanon have returned home, says the UN, while only a minority of the displaced in Israel has done it, according to reports.

The positions where the troops of the Israel Defense Forces (FDI) have been deployed are on mountainous terrain on the edge of the internationally recognized border between Lebanon and Israel.

On Tuesday, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz said the IDF “remained temporarily at five strategic points.” He added that this was “necessary for our security.”

“Once Lebanon completely implements his side of the agreement, there will be no need to maintain these points,” he said at a press conference in Jerusalem.

The Lebanese soldiers moved to the areas unemployed by Israeli troops and began to clean obstacles and verify the unleashed ammunition, the Associated Press news agency reported Tuesday.

He said that some villagers made their way to return to their homes, many of which were exploited in the conflict.

“I am very happy to return even if I find my house destroyed,” said Atef Arabi, 36, who returned to Kfar Kila’s village with his wife and two daughters. “If I find my house destroyed, I will rebuild it.”

The withdrawal of Israel had postponed from the original 60 -day deadline, which fell on January 26, stipulated in Alto El Fuego.

In a social networks publication on Tuesday, Katz said: “The activities of application of the IDF against Hezbollah will continue with all their strength. We will not allow a return to the reality of October 7 (2023)”, referring to the date on which Hamas Palestino The gunmen carried out an unprecedented attack against Israel from Gaza.

Hezbolá had launched his military campaign against Israel the next day, saying that he was acting in solidarity with the Palestinians.
