The director of “The Brutalist” is becoming real about the realities of making a Oscar nominated movie.
During a recent appearance in the “WTF with Marc Maron“Podcast, the film director, Brady Corbet, shared that he and his wife and creative companion, Mona Fastvold,” won zero dollars in the last two films we made “, which include” The Brutalist “and the 2018 movie” Vox Lux “

He continued explaining that the filmmakers “are not paid to promote a film”, and many times the promotion schedule can get in other opportunities to earn money with their work.
“If you look at certain films that premiered in Cannes, that was almost a year ago … I mean, our movie premiered in September. So I’ve been doing this for six months. And I had zero income because I don’t have any time it’s time to go to work.
Nominated for 10 Oscar in the Awards of the 2025 Academy, “The Brutalist” follows a Jewish architect, László Tóth, played by Adrien Brodywhile moving to America after surviving the holocaust. The film sees him trying to earn enough money to bring his wife and niece to join him in the United States, when he connects with a rich man who hires him to build a community center.
“I have talked to many filmmakers who have nominated films this year that they can’t pay their rental. I mean, that’s something real.”

Brody has already won the Golden Globe, Critics choice award ‘ And the BAFTA for his interpretation of László, and is a favorite in the race for the best main actor in the Academy Awards.
In addition to the nominations for Corbet and Brody, the film is also nominated for the best film, the best cast actress, the best cast actor, the best original script and many others.
“I am grateful to have made a film that talks about the immense tragedy of a time in history,” Brody told Variety in February. “And to have very little sentimentality, since almost a visual reference of a time that cannot be forgotten and a generalized underground current that cannot be ignored.”
