The former president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, accused the alleged plot of blow

The former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has been accused by the country’s main prosecutor to try a coup after being defeated in the 2022 presidential elections.

The 69 -year -old man received five positions for the alleged commitment to prevent President Luiz Inacio Da Silva from assuming the position after a bitter electoral career.

The prosecutor’s council will now be considered by the Supreme Court. If they are accepted, Bolsonaro and another 33 will be formally charged and will have to face the trial.

Bolsonaro denies irregularities and says he is a victim of political persecution.

He was forbidden to run for a position for eight years after being accused of undermining Brazilian democracy by falsely affirming that the electronic ballots used in the October 2022 survey were vulnerable to piracy and fraud.

The elections that fought bitterly won by an extremely narrow margin by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, known more frequently as Lula.

Bolsonaro never publicly recognized his defeat and left Brazil during the United States two days before Lula Jurara as president.

On January 8, 2023, its supporters assaulted government buildings in the capital of Brasilia. Parts of the buildings were looted and the police arrested 1,500 of the uproar.

Three months ago, the Federal Police published a report accusing Bolsonaro of playing a main role in the planning and organization of a coup attempt, even proposing the idea to the key figures in the army, to prevent Lula from taking power.

The document that accuses Bolsonaro says that the responsibility of the acts that were harmful to the democratic order lies in a criminal organization directed by Bolsonaro himself.

In practice, this means that legal procedures begin and Bolsonaro will probably face a trial.

One of the charges is for the crime of “armed criminal organization”, supposedly directed by Bolsonaro and its vice presidential candidate Walter Braga Netto.

“Allies with other people, including civilians and military personnel, tried to prevent, in a coordinated manner, the result of the 2022 presidential elections to comply,” said Attorney General Paulo Gonet Branco in a statement.

The Brazilian media report that the Supreme Court is expected to continue the trial at the end of this year.

The reaction to the prosecutor shows that the divisions that Brazilian politics have marked during the last decade remain as deep as ever.

Government supporters celebrate and say that the former president belongs to the prison, while the opposition insists that he is innocent.

The approach is now on the impact that the decision of the Supreme Court will have on next year’s presidential elections. Recent opinion surveys show record levels for rejection for President Lula.

Although they were forbidden to run for the position, Bolsonaro remains a strong political force in Brazil and could use the trial as a platform for their agenda.
