Scott Sauerbeck, former Pirates pitcher, dead at age 53


Scott Sourbeck, in forms MLB pitcher Who played for four major league teams, died Wednesday in Florida. He was 53 years old.

“The Pirates family cries the death of Scott Sauerbeck,” the team wrote, previously known as Twitter. “Scott played for the 1999-2003 Bucs and shares the club record for most games released by an LHP in a season.

“Our thoughts are with your family and friends during this time.”

The 2002 season was perhaps the most memorable of Sauerbeck, since its 78 appearances established the Pirates franchise record for most games released in a single season. It is still the owner of the record.
