Germany prepared to choose the conservative leader while the country goes to the surveys on Sunday

The Germans are expected to go to surveys when conservative Christian democrats, led by Friedrich Merz, are expected to Chancellor Olaf Scholz. But the possible incoming chancellor has already indicated that he will not govern with the Populist Alternative of the right of Germany for the Germany party (AFD).

The election of Germany has also caught the attention of vice president JD Vance and Elon Musk. Musk has defended the AFD as the best political party to fix the economic problems in Germany. Musk’s comments caused the wrath of German politicians, and Foreign Minister Scholz accused the billionaire of interfering in the elections of Germany.

After stabbing in Munich on Friday, Musk once again Tuned his support for AFD In X, declaring: “Only AFD can save Germany.”

Vance met with the AFD leader, Alice Weidel, at the Munich Security Conference and criticized the “Firewall” policy of the German government not to cooperate with the AFD.

“The main political parties that govern Germany have established a ‘Firewall’ between them and the AFD, which essentially means that they refuse to support, collaborate or support extreme right -wing parties such as AFD,” Anna Hardage, companion of studies Europeans in the United States. The Foreign Policy Council said Fox News Digital.

The AFD hopes to have its best performance in an election, doubling its vote count since 2021, and could become the second largest political party in Germany.

If Merz and his party of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) refuse to work with the AFD, Germany can end with a coalition of parties that have fewer shared priorities, except a shared desire to avoid associating with the AFD.

Hardage said that, although the AFD will probably be excluded from any government coalition, the success of the party in the mobilization of public opinion means that its positions will shape public debates around the biggest problems facing Germany.

AFD has been able to capitalize on the German public Fears about migration After a series of violent incidents that involve migrants. The party defends the strictest immigration laws such as the number of migrants in Germany and the EU has shot in the last years of several global conflicts.

The economy, security and immigration are the biggest problems, and are successful because many voters attribute these big problems to the false steps of past leaders. Rafael Loss, a member of the European Board of Foreign Affairs policy, told Fox News Digital Merz has moved the right CDU on these issues to recover the curious voters of AFD.

AFD could find common land with the desire of President Donald Trump to end the war in Ukraine. The party has asked for the end of security assistance to Ukraine and the lifting of sanctions to Russia. The loss said, however, that transatlantism is in the center of the identity of the CDU, and Merz is convinced that Russia is an existential threat to German and European security, and remains a priority for Ukraine to leave victorious.

The feeling is shared by Merz’s European counterparts.

“The conversations between European leaders of recent weeks, many of whom have also been consulting with Merz, suggest that German and European support for Ukraine will increase even more instead of decreasing,” said the loss.

The Merz party has led in the surveys for at least three years, and most surveys show constant leadership for the CDU of around 30%. The election occurs after the “traffic light” coalition of Foreign Minister Scholz collapsed in November for disagreements in tax issues.

Economic problems have also led to a deterioration of Scholz’s popularity, and his government fought to combat the increase after the pandemic in inflation and stagnant growth.

The AFD has faced a flood of criticism and controversy and was put under surveillance by the German National Intelligence Agency in 2021 and labeled as alleged right -wing Group because some members have reported ties with neo -Nazis groups. The party appealed the designation but was not successful. Björn Höcke, the co-leader of the AFD in the state of Thuringia, and the most prominent member of the party of his extreme right wing, has been sentenced several times for using rhetoric and Nazi symbols.
