Gregg Popovich of the Spurs is not expected to return this season while recovering from stroke: report


San Antonio Spurs Chief coach Gregg Popovich had a “slight blow” in November, has not trained since then, and, according to the reports, it is not expected to return to the bank this season.

The 76 -year -old lost six games earlier this season before the team. He announced that he had the stroke. He trained the first five games of the team season.

ESPN reported Saturday night that Popovich’s future is uncertain in the midst of his recovery.

“This has certainly been an unexpected six weeks for my family and me,” said Popovich In December. “While we work together in my recovery, I want to take a moment to share that the effusion of the support we have received during this time has really been overwhelming in the best possible way.

“While I would like to be able to return to each of you, for now, let me say that my family and I are always grateful. We are grateful for our wonderful community, the entire organization of the Spurs and our family and friends.”

At that time, Popvich had not ruled out a return, saying ironic: “No one is more excited to see me return to the bank than to the talented people who have been leading my rehabilitation process. They quickly learned that I am less trainable.”

The team said it was expected to recover completely. Mitch Johnson has led the Spurs in the absence of Popovich.

The news comes after Victor Wembanyama was recently revealed the rest of the season with a blood clot on the shoulder.

Popovich is The NBA’s Race leader with 1,401 victories and 170 postseason victories while winning five NBA titles. It is in its 29th season, all with San Antonio.
