Parents of the late golfer Grayson Murray It is reflected in the lasting heritage of their son and the last days of his life.
Eric and Terry Murray talked to Today about the death of Grayson, who died of suicide at the age of 30 In May 2024.

Grayson, a double PGA winner who was honest about his mental health journey, was found dead in his Palm Beach Gardens in Florida, at home after withdrawing from the Texas tournament citing illness.
“He tried to improve,” Eric said. “He did everything he could.”
Grayson joined the rehabilitation for alcoholism in 2021 and also sought to treat social anxiety and depression, but his mother explained how his lifestyle did not make her son the matter.
“He went and drank and gambled,” Terry said. “It was hard for him on the road.”
According to Golf DigestGrayson admitted that in 2017 he lost more than $ 400,000 of gambling.
When things became too difficult, Terry said that the family house became a shrine for Grayson.
“He would wear a happy face on the road,” she explained. “Our house has become a safe refuge.” If he was depressed, he would go to his room and did not go for two or three days. ”
Eric defined these periods for his son as “deep tunnels or dark holes” while remembling one of the last trips of Grayson into the house.
“We were sitting on the sofa, and we were both sitting there and crying,” he said. “I held him as a child.” He talked about how difficult it was physically and emotionally to do what he was doing. ”
When he saw a toll on him, Eric even tried to get Grayson to give up golf to concentrate on himself.
“Actually, I asked him to do it,” he said. “But Grayson loved golf.” There is no place on Earth where he was happier than on a golf course. But at the same time it was very difficult. ”
A month before his death, Grayson achieved a lifelong goal by competing in his first master’s tournament. It is a memory that was forever anchored in the Murray family house.
“We have his picture at the masters hanging over the sofa,” Terry said. “I look there every day.”
