Macron verifies Trump about the financing of Ukraine

After his meeting at the Oval office on Monday, the French president, Emmanuel Macron, interrupted the president of the United States, Donald Trump, while asking questions from journalists.

Trump had said that European countries were “lending” money to Ukraine. “They are recovering their money,” he added.

Macron placed his hand on Trump’s arm and said that Ukraine funds in Europe took the form of loans, guarantees and subsidies, and included “real money.”

• The couple met on the third anniversary of the large -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine, a week after the United States began peace negotiations with Russia without directly involving Europe.
