Katy Perry will go to Blue Origin All-Women space

The pop star, Katy Perry, will shoot space as part of a next flight of women in the new Shepherd Blue Origin rocket.

The fireworks singer will join the fiancee of the owner of Blue Origin, Jeff Bezos, Lauren Sánchez, the presenter of CBS Gayle King, the former scientist of Nasa Aisha Bowe rockets, the Civil Rights activist Amanda Nguyen and the film producer Kerianne Flynn.

Blue Origin said this is the first space flight for all women that takes place from the solo mission of Valentina Tereshkova of the Soviet Union in 1963.

There is no specific date for launch, but Blue Origin said this spring will take place.

Katy Perry is scheduled to be on her lives of lives from April 23 to November 11, so this trip is expected to take place before that.

“If you had told me that it would be part of the first female crew in space, I would have believed you. Nothing was beyond my imagination when I was a child,” Perry said in a statement cited by Newsweek.

The NS-31 mission will be the eleventh part of the human flight for the new Shepherd rocket and 31 in its history. Until now, the program has launched 52 people into space.

A trip in the new Shepard usually lasts about 11 minutes, according to Blue Origin. It is completely autonomous, which means that there are no pilots, and leads passengers beyond the Karman line, internationally recognized as the edge of space.

Blue Origin gave credit to Lauren Sánchez for gathering the mission, saying in his press release that he is “honest to lead a team of explorers in a mission that will challenge their Earth’s perspectives, they are able to share their own stories and create a lasting impact that inspires generations to come.”

Sánchez first announced his plan to fly with a team of women in a rocket of blue origin in 2023 in an interview with Vogue, saying they were “racing the way for women.”

This is the last group of celebrities to embark on a flight to space.

Bezos himself flew in the company’s first manned mission in 2021. The Good Morning America Coanfrerion, Michael Strahan, and the Star Trek actor, William Shatner, have also been attacked in space in one of the sods of Bezos.

Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Galactic, made a trip aboard the VSS Unity spacecraft of his company in July 2021. The founder of Spacex, Elon Musk, has not yet made a trip.
