Vergil Ortiz Jr. says he wants to see Errol Spence retire because he feels the combination of his car accident in 2019 and his loss against Terence Crawford has taken it a lot.
Errol has not retired, but his time outside the ring surpasses him in that category. It doesn’t matter if you have not announced your retirement. He is not fighting, so he could well retire. The former unified three-belt welter champion Spence (28-1, 22 kos) has not fought in two years since his ninth-round knockout defeat against Crawford on July 29, 2023.
Being out of the ring so much after what Spence of 35 years has happened in the last six years is a lot. Spence has had eye injuries and weight problems. It tends to be great among fights, which has affected him.
“I don’t think Errol must fight again. I say this as a fighter who really admired him in the same gym. I think it’s over, “said Vergil Ortiz Jr. to Brian Campbell’s YouTube Channel, saying that he thinks Errol Spence should retire. “I don’t want to see him fight again, I really don’t, just for his health concerns.
“He already had the car accident (October 10, 2019 in Dallas, Texas), and had a bad night against Crawford. If you have earned the money you need, then you don’t need to survive and you can live comfortably, then just retire. I really don’t want to see him fight again as a friend. “
Spence has earned a lot of money during his career. If that were not the case, in fact I would have returned to the ring out of necessity. Hungry combatants tend to stay busy. They are the rich that feel inactive.
“I don’t think anyone was familiar with Muratazaliev, at least here in the United States. So that was the first time everyone had seen him. We all assume that Tim (Tszyu) was going to do Tim. I was surprised, “said Vergil JR about former OMB Junior medium -sized champion, Tim Tszyu, in the third round of an performance of four spills of the 154 -pound champion of the FIB Bakhram Murtazaliev on October 19 of last year.
“I didn’t expect that at all. I was like, ‘this guy is good. That makes me even more excited. It’s just another good fighter that I can try my skills, ”said Ortiz Jr.
Vergil Jr. comes from a unanimous decision victory of 12 rounds over Israil Madrimov on February 22 in Riad. After the fight, he had said he wanted to fight for a world title. However, the two names he mentioned, Terence Crawford and Sebastian Fundora, are out of his reach.
The only type he can fight, the FIB Bakhram Murtazaliev champion, does not seem anxious to fight. In fact, in the previous interview, Ortiz Jr. said he would be interested in fighting Tim Tszyu below, although he left a defeat to Murtazaliev.
He prefers to fight Tszyu with him losing that the undefeated Murtazaliev. Think a little about that. It shows you how much Ortiz Jr. Murtazaliev respects.
