AJ Brown from Eagles almost chose baseball over football


Aj Brown’s sixth season at the NFL was probably the most memorable. The All-Pro open receiver offered a third consecutive season of 1,000 yards and was a key part of the Eagles Philadelphia ‘ Run to a Super Bowl title.

Before making the jump to the NFL, Brown ended with just under 3,000 yards of reception with the rebels Ole Miss during their time as University American football star.

While Brown has become one of the best players of his sport, there was a time when he contemplated a different path.

The three times PRO Bowler stood out in football and baseball in Starkville High in Mississippi. He also played in the Under Armor High School 2015 all-americ baseball game.

Brown admitted that he was alarmed by the launching skills of pitchers who competed in that game, which led to his decision to follow football.

“I will tell you when I made the decision to play football. I am in the right garden. I am in the game All-America in Chicago. The first was like 97 (MPH): 97 of the tear? Usually, I face 85,” Brown explained during a recent appearance in the “Million Dollaz Worthing of Game” podcast.

“However, we are still in high school. So, all these are high school players, and these boys will probably go first round. I see him throwing an out of speed, and it is like a 90 mph ball. I’m going to see if I can go here and hit this.”

Brown attracted interest from MLB equipment, And San Diego’s parents recruited him in one of the posterior rounds in 2016. Brown, however, chose to attend the university in his native Mississippi and take the football route. Brown obtained the first team’s All-Sec honors twice during his outstanding race in Ole Miss.

In 2020, Brown detailed how baseball helped him mold the football player today.

“He caught the ball with his eyes,” Brown told ESPN. “Baseball really helped me with that for football. When you are tracking a ball, especially a deep ball, it helped me a lot. I played in the central garden in baseball. In a deep pass in football, you judge it and track it like a central gardener.”
