At least four people have died and several others disappear after an avalanche hit the state of northern India in Uttarakhand, authorities said.
A rescue operation has been carried out after the avalanche swept road construction workers in the town of Mana, who shares a border with Tibet, Friday.
About 50 people who were buried under snow and the debris were rescued, but four died from their wounds, the Indian army said.
Helicopters have been deployed in the search for five people who are not yet in the state of the Himalayan mountain, he added.
Uttarakhand state prime minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, said rescue teams were “continuously involved in help efforts” after Avalancha, which reached a border road organization camp.
He added that the government was committed to providing all possible assistance to those affected “in this hour of crisis.”
