Questions surrounding the resignation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky On Friday he caused Friday after Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of R-SC, suggested that he might need to resign after a dispute broke out between him and President Donald Trump during live coverage.
But that was not the first time that the Republican party suggested such movement, and began earlier this month after Trump promoted the idea after a call with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Trump said for the first time that Ukraine should hold elections after falsely stating that he only enjoyed an approval index of 4%, although under the constitution of Ukraine, the country cannot hold elections when the martial law is in force during a moment of war.

Zelenskyy, whose approval index is closer to 63% according to a Reuters report, on Friday he reiterated once again to resign if Kyiv was awarded the NATO membership.
Ultimately, he emphasized during an interview with the Bret Baier of Fox News, as in the United States, where “Americans vote for the US president”, as well as “each European country votes for its president”, the same sovereign right is carried out in Ukraine, which suggests that it is not a negotiating tactic that allows Trump to use to appeal to Putin.
But who can be in the race? Should Zelenskyy ever decide to give up?

The former boxer turned into a politician who has served as mayor of kyiv since 2014 with strong support among those who live in the capital city, has also proven to be on the international stage.
On a trip to Brussels earlier this month, Klitschko emphasized the need to support Zelenskyy while presenting verbal attacks from the Trump administration while trying to counteract Putin’s war.
The voice of support for Ukrainian leaders was particularly notable given their criticism prior to Zelenskyy.
During his trip last week, Klitschko emphasized that an election could “destroy the country from within” while facing existential threats from the north and on its eastern flank.

According to the reports, Stefonchuk, president of the Parliament of Ukraine, has also been floated as a potential future contender for the main role in Ukraine.
Although it is said that Stefanchuk is a superior ally of Zelenskyy, he has ardently rejected the recent international suggestions that Ukraine celebrates elections.
In a Facebook publication earlier this month, he argued that “if there is someone who needs to be forced to real, free and fair elections, it is (Putin).”
He pointed out that Ukraine needs “bullets, not ballots,” according to a Newsweek report.

The head of the Gur Military Intelligence Agency of Ukraine, Budanov, could be another that can be a contender for the main work in kyiv.
Budanov, who has not expressed the desire to look for a high position according to a Newsweek report, has an even higher confidence rating than Zelenskyy among Ukrainians.
The head of military intelligence earlier this month apparently expressed his confidence that Ukraine can finally reach a peace agreement after three years of war.
“I think it will happen. There are most of the components to happen,” Budanov said during a YouTube interview. “How long will it be, how effective it will be – (it) another question.”

Zaluzhny and Zelenskyy have had their differences, which resulted in the general being fired from his military position in 2024. The Carnegie Politika blog recently reported that their popularity is strong, with 80% of Ukrainians saying that they trust him. The publication also noted that a hypothetical second round runoff between the two resulted in a statistical link.
Zaluzhny has not said if he would challenge Zelenskyy or if he was even interested in running for the president.
