The secretary of the Treasury, Scott Besent, declared that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had already refused twice to sign a mineral agreement with the United States.
“This has to be one of the biggest diplomatic mishaps of all time of President Zelenskyy,” Besent said in an interview on Friday with Laura Ingraham, Fox News presenter “”The Ingraham angle.”
Besent explained that Zelenskyy told him during a kyiv meeting that he would not sign a mineral agreement, which would change billions of dollars in American aid funds for rare earths and other Ukraine resources. Zelenskyy also refused to close the agreement with Vice President JD Vance and the Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Besent declared.

On Friday, Trump and Vance rebuked Zelenskyy in view of journalists, with rolling cameras. The tense weather led to a canceled meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump.
“It was supposed to be a great day and this is one of the greatest objectives in diplomatic history,” said Besent, referring to a soccer term about scoring against his own team.
“Today I was surprised that he would behave in the camera in front of the world,” he added.
On the social media site X, Senator Eric Schmitt, RM posted“Zelenskyy could have signed the agreement five days before, but wanted to come to the White House. It had been difficult for two weeks. However, he wanted the White House meeting. Trump was optimistic even the day before the public and privately on the day of. Although everything could have restarted everything, Zelenskyy was antagonist and on the top.”
This is the real reason why Trump and Zelenskyy’s treatment exploded in the Oval office.

Schmitt concluded: “He had a putt of one foot but was more interested in litigating issues that should be discussed behind closed doors (and have been) in public.”

“We had a very significant meeting in the White House today,” Trump wrote. “It was much learned that it could never be understood without conversation under that fire and pressure.”
“Thank you, America, thanks for your support, thanks for this visit,” Zelenskyy published on X on Friday afternoon. “Thank you @potus, the American Congress and people. Ukraine needs fair and lasting peace, and we are working exactly for that.”
