Linda McMahon swore to direct the Trump agency wants to abolish

Linda McMahon, the former CEO of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), swore efficiently to serve as the next Secretary of Education under President Donald Trumpwhich seeks “immediately” close the department during your mandate.

The Senate McMahon confirmed to direct the Department of Education on Monday night 51-45, along the lines of the party, the final obstacle of its confirmation process.

McMahon swore shortly after the vote and will begin his official duties on Tuesday morning.

“I am deeply grateful to President Trump for his confidence in me to serve in his cabinet as secretary of Education. I am prepared to direct the department in this time of transformation and accept the challenge to improve the educational system for the more than 100 million children and university students who deserve better,” McMahon said in a statement after being confirmed.

“Education is the issue that determines our national success and prepares US workers to win the future. Each decision made in the department will be promoted by a commitment to support meaningful learning and train our most important interested parties: students, families and teachers,” McMahon added. “We will empower states and districts so that they have more voice in what is working on the field for students instead of the bureaucratic edicts of Washington, DC”

Trump has said he wants to close the Department of Education, and McMahon, in a letter to Democratic legislators, said she supports her position on the subject.

“President Trump believes that the bureaucracy in Washington should be abolished so that we can return education to the states, where it belongs. Support of all my heart and I agree with this mission,” McMahon wrote to the members of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee of the Senate in February.

McMahon served as former WWE chief, who founded with his husband, Vince McMahon.

The former WWE tycoon launched two separate Senate offers In Connecticut In 2010 and 2012, but they lost both general elections with Democratic nominees.
