“As I have learned many times throughout my career, the interruption leads to innovation and obtains results,” the secretary wrote. “We must begin to think about our final mission in the department as a review, a final opportunity to restore the culture of freedom and excellence that made American education great.”
The letter also applauded the recent orders of the Trump administration to eliminate the critical theory of race (CRT), gender ideology and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI), while “restoring patriotic and civic education” in schools.
“This review of our programs is very late,” said McMahon. “The Department of Education does not work as planned. Since its establishment in 1980, taxpayers have entrusted the department of more than $ 1 billion, but the results of the students have constantly languished.”
