Protection of women and girls in the sporting act: who were the Democrats who could not support the bill?

No Senate Democrat voted on Monday in favor of the protection of women and girls in the sporting act, which would remain biological males of competition in sports of women and girls.

A procedural vote was made on the Senate’s floor and the Republicans needed at least 60 votes to break the filibuster. They received 51. Sens. Angus King, I-MAINE, and Bernie Sanders, I-VT., Voted with the Democrats.

Four senators were absent: Democrats Elissa Slotkin, from Michigan, and Peter Welch, Vermont, and Republicans Shelley Capito, West Virginia, and Cynthia Lummis, of Wyoming.

Senator Tammy Baldwin, D-Wis.

Baldwin gave a statement to Fox News Digital on Tuesday.

“In a nutshell: it is not the federal government place to tell the state and local sports leagues throughout the country how to do their job,” he said. “For my part, I trust that our state and local leagues elaborate a reflexive policy where parents and players can participate in the discussion about what is best for our children without interference from the president or Congress.”

Senator Catherine Stretch Mast, D-Nev.

Cortez Masto said in a statement that he supported justice in women’s sports, but drew the line when it was an alleged “government overreach.”

“Support clean play and safety and not support the transgender athletes competing in girls and women sports when it compromises those principles,” he said in a statement. “I think that local schools, athletes, coaches and parents are much better equipped to implement fair and strong policies on this issue than politicians in Congress.

“This general legislation would allow anyone to submit girls to physical exams invasive only because of the way it looks. That is an incredible government extraction and is putting young women at a greater risk of abuse and harassment, something against what my career was happening fighting.”

Senator Dick Durbin, D-Bill.

Durbin expressed repairs similar to Cortez Masto.

“Get in the place of these families for a moment,” Durbin said. “Imagine being the father of a trans child and telling his son that he cannot play in the same sports team as his friends at school because a politician said they could not.

“It is so personal, it is so important and (due to the Republicans), we will vote to give someone not specified the right to physically inspect a girl or a young woman if the other other team accuses them of being transgender. My God.”

Durbin also pointed out the testimony of the president of the NCAA, Charlie Baker, to the legislators when he said he believed there were less than 10 transgender athletes in collegiate athletics. Later, the organization changed its policy after the executive order of “No Men In Women’s Sports” by President Trump.

Late. John Fetterman, D-PA.

Fetterman suggested in an X publication that chose to be an ally of the “small” contingent of transgender athletes.

“The little handful of trans athletes in P in a political maelstrom deserves an ally and I am one. Disonated as ‘they/them’ in a political announcement, but they are only schoolchildren. The empty votes of shows or cruelty in social networks are not part of a reflective and dignified solution.”

Senator Ruben Gallego, D-Aarz.

Gallego minimized the problem of his constituents in his state.

“Look, if you are running and you have no other identity and you are not known for fighting for people to have a decent life, buy a house, to be able to bring the American dream to their families, these external problems are what will tear you down,” he told NBC News.

“I am not worried about that, because I communicate with my Arizonanos classmates every day I am fighting for them to make sure they can live the American dream regardless of what.”

Senator John Hickenlooper, D-Colo.

Hickenlooper told NBC News that Senator Tommy Tuberville, republican of Ala., Who presented the bill, was “trying to produce social wars on something that really does not exist.” He said Trump’s announcement on Trans athletes in women’s sports was only going to work once.

Sens. Tim Kaine and Mark Warner, D-VA.

Kaine and Warner issued a joint statement, saying that Congress should concentrate on other things.

“At this time, Congress should focus on approving bills that reduce the prices of groceries, not those that threaten to disburse public schools and destroy American class schools and universities,” they said. “But instead, Republicans are ready to eliminate the Department of Education, while at the same time they try to dictate how individual schools must administer their sports programs and submit children to uncomfortable scrutiny, invasive questions and even harassment. We will vote to prevent this bill progressing and leaving the decision on how State associators, not the federal government government, no, the federals, no, the federals.

Senator Angus King, I-MAINE

King said in a statement that he understood the concerns of students, parents and administrators about equity and fisterial differences, but anyway he voted against the bill.

“However, if a school in Maine decided to include a single trans student in one of their teams, schools throughout the State would lose access to critical funds that would be harmful to all their districts and students, and let the states fulfill the will of their citizens.

“Therefore, ultimately, I do not feel comfortable conditioning all federal education funds on a topic that selects such a small number of students throughout the country, even here in Maine, and eliminates the power of decision making of local communities.

“Finally, it seems strange that many of those who support this legislation have exactly the opposite position when it comes to the reproductive elections of women, that this problem must be left to the United States, while the question of transgender athletes requires a federal solution that annuls local control.”

Senator Gary Peters, D-Mich.

Peters told NBC News that the problem did not seem to resonate with the constituents in Michigan.

“This is not really a problem like Michigan,” he said. “People will realize that it has really been a problem that Republicans have been trying to explode.”

Senate Democrats face a violent reaction after the bill to prevent boys from practicing girls from girls

Several Democratic senators did not issue a statement or said why they voted as they did.

These legislators included Sens. Angela Alsobrooks, D-Md., Michael Bennet, D-Col., Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., Lisa Blunt Rochester, D-Del., Cory Booker, Dn.J., Maria Cantwell, D-Wash., Chris Coons, D-Del. D-Sill., Kirsten Geillibrand. Hassan, Dn.H., Martin Heinrich, Dn.m., Mazie Hirono, D-Hawaii, Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., Andy Kim, Dn.J., Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-minn., Ben Ray Lujú, Dn.m., Ed Markey, D-Mass. Patty Murray, D-Wash., Jon Ossoff, D-G., Alex Padilla, D-Calif., Jack Reed, Dr.i., Jacky Rosen, D-Nev., Bernie Sanders, I-Vt Shaheen, Dn.H., Tin. Chris van Hollen, DM.D., Raphael Warnock, D-G., Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Sheldon Whitehouse, Dr.i. and Ron Wyden, D-Ore.

Fox News Digital contacted those senators to comment.

The protection of women and girls in the sports act would require title IX Treating gender as “recognized based solely on the biology and reproductive genetics of a person at birth” and would reject any adjustment to apply to gender identity.

The bill backed by Tuberville had more than 40 copatrochinters in the Senate. It would also encode one of Trump’s many recent executive orders, giving policy a better longevity.

Meanwhile, a recent New York Times/Ipsos survey found that the vast majority of Americans, including 67% of Democrats, do not believe that trans athletes can compete in women’s sports.
