James Dennehy was appointed for the position of former FBI director Christopher Wray in September 2024.
He shared the news of his game with colleagues in an email on Monday, obtained by Fox News Digital.
He said he had been informed on Friday night that he would need to put his retirement documents. “They didn’t give me a reason for this decision,” Dennehy said.

“Regardless of, I apologize for not being able to fulfill my commitment to you to serve as add NY for at least two years.
“But as I go today, I have an immense feeling of pride: having represented an office of professionals who will always do the right thing for the right reasons; who will always look for the truth while maintain that victims, and the process first;
Dennehy provided a list of the 10 things they would miss about working for the FBI, although his trip was not one of them.
Among the elements of his list were the investigations, the intensity, the brand of the FBI, the camaraderie, the badge, the independence and all who worked.
“They have told me many times in my life, ‘When you are in a hole, sometimes it is better to stop digging,” he wrote.
“Fuck that. I will never stop defending this articulation. I will voluntarily and proudly from outside the cable,” he said.
Dennehy’s departure is the last one in a low -leading series President Donald Trump’s New administration.
It is likely that the news of his departure, which occurs shortly after the confirmation of the director of the FBI, Kash Patel, and the deputy director Dan Bongino, touch new policy fears within the office.

Dennehy, a veteran of the United States Marines, joined the FBI shortly after the terrorist attacks of September 11 in 2002, and received numerous awards for more than two decades as a special agent.
His prolific career included numerous promotions and management positions, including recent promotions to serve at the Washington headquarters, DC, DC of the FBI, under the first Trump administration, and as head of the FBI Newark field office and his FBI office office and its New York city, respectively.
More recently, Dennehy was at the center of attention for a focus focus with the Trump administration about a questionnaire sent to thousands of FBI staff asking them to detail their role in the extensive investigations of the disturbances of the Capitol of January 6.
The office staff had cited reprisal fears and political remuneration for their roles, and Dennehy was among the office employees who had urged their colleagues to “dig” to protect the independence of the FBI from external interference.
He also played a key role in the investigation into the mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, who was accused of charges of criminal corruption last fall before the Department of Justice moved abruptly to dismiss the case last month.

The President Judge in the case, the United States District Judge, has not yet granted the request of the Department of Justice, and instead has commissioned an external lawyer, Paul Clement, who advises him on the matter.
The game occurs a few days after the attorney general PAM Bondi suggested that the FBI field office in New York was responsible for retaining thousands of pages of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.

Bondi sent a scathing letter to Patel last week demanding answers about why the documents were not available before, and since then he had promised to fire the responsible person.
It is not clear if Dennehy had any role in the investigation, or if his retirement was related to those documents.
In his farewell note to colleagues on Monday, Dennehy said he leaves with an “immense feeling of pride” of having represented an office of professionals who will always do the right thing for the right reasons “and” that they will always seek the truth while maintaining the rule of law … ”
