Actor Mark Wahlberg is bringing faith to the modern era, sharing how the application of Catholic Prayer Hallow has deepened his spiritual journey, just in time for the season of Borrowed.
“I would say that I am nothing more than a humble servant of God,” Wahlberg told Fox News correspondent Senior Benjamin Hall. “They put me in this position for a specific reason.”
Wahlberg is a key figure in Hallow, an application of Catholic prayer and meditation that helps users to incorporate faith into their daily routines. This Lent, “Hallow” is launching his challenge Lent Pray40, with special guests that lead daily sessions of prayer and meditation.
For Wahlberg, Lent is a deeply significant moment, a season of reflection and renewal that brings him closer to God.
“It’s a reminder that I need to do more, and I need to be better,” he said. “There are things that are in my life that distract and move me away from my focus on building my relationship and approaching God. Of course, living that life full of purpose that he chose for me.”
Lent begins today, ash Wednesday and lasts until Sunday of April. As part of Hallow Challenge, Wahlberg will join the fellow actor Chris Pratt and other guests in special sessions focused on fasting, one of the central pillars of Lent.
Wahlberg believes that Lent is not just about personal sacrifice, but also to recognize human imperfections and strive to be better.
“I think we all have things to regret,” he told Hall.
“I had a very very problematic childhood. Until now, you only know, be impatient with people, be short with people, not being so understanding, so reflective. They catch you in all these things every day in your life. There is only one person who was perfect who walked through this earth, and that was Jesus. And everyone else should be a bit more attentive.”

Wahlberg expects their success to continue, helping young people to build a stronger connection with their faith and avoid the mistakes he made in his youth.

“Encourage young people to help them avoid making the same mistakes I made and that other people commit … with God in your life every day, it allows you to be in the position where you can make the right decisions,” Wahlberg said.
“I have done, I don’t know 50, 60 films. People always approach me and say something. But most of the time now … people usually talk about Hallow, and how much their lives have changed. Either reconnect them after they are expired or, you know, find a way to meet and be introduced to God and faithful for the first time in their lives.”
With Hallow Lent Pray40 challenge now in progress, Wahlberg and other religious leaders are inviting people around the world to join in prayer, reflection and renewal of this Lent season.
