Ryan García says that Gervonta Davis’s dazzled performance against Lamont Roach on Saturday night was the result of his retirement planning soon and did not mentally focused on how hard he needed to be against a motivated fighter.
The lightweight champion of the AMB, Tank, escaped with a majority draw of 12 rounds, but many fans felt that he lost. Ryan feels that he should have been scored in the ninth round when Davis (30-0-1, 28 kos) knelt. He blamed him for hair fat by getting into his eyes.
Garcia says that if Gervonta goes out with his knee without taking him away, other fighters will do the same and blame him for some physical problem. This will “kill the impulse” of their opponent, and can return to the fight.
Ryan does not buy the technical problem that supposedly prevented the New York commission from reviewing the ninth round without calling when Tank knelt. He points out that the repetition was shown in the sand.
“That is what happens when you have one foot in one foot (in retirement) before entering the ring,” Ryan García told TV ifl About the fight of Gervonta Davis vs. Lamont Roach last Saturday in Brooklyn. “To get to that third or fourth march that you will need, especially when you are that guy, that other guy will want him ten more.”
Tank had said in the fight that will retire in three fights. He specifically chose Roach instead of someone from the 135 -pound division. Fans saw him as Davis on his retirement tour, choosing a beatable opposition to make sure he leaves the game without losing.
“Then, when one foot comes out, you will enter the ring and you will have that moment when you know you will have to intensify it and simply will not come. I think that’s what happened, “Garcia continued about why Tank fought against Roach.
Davis would have had problems with Roach, even if he did not plan to retire. Just fight in jets, and a guy who is made to order Roach, who is intelligent. He had studied Davis’s fights and understood that he was someone who could overcome. That is what he did.
“100% that should have been discarded a fall (in the ninth). I like Tank Davis, but these are the rules. You can’t take such a knee. I knew it. He says he didn’t, but he did. In addition to that, there is no way in hell that had technical problems. They showed the repetition in the sand. There is no way that they had technical problems.
“I think they need to do something about it because it gives an incentive to other boxers, ‘I’m going to shoot every time something bothers me. I hurt my hand a little. I hurt my elbow a little. I did some shit and fight again. When you kill the impulse of the other guy, they return and fight. They need to do something or you will have many boxers who do something strange,” Garcia said.
