For a new beer, Grateful Dead and Dogfish Head Team to celebrate


The Grateful Dead continues in “Truckin ‘” 60 years later, this time with a new Beer throughout the year.

Dogfish Head has launched its new Pale Ale de Grateful Dead Juicy Pale throughout the country to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the brewery based in Delaware and the iconic foundation of the US band 60 years ago.

Grateful Dead Juicy Pale Ale is available in six 12 -ounce cans packages in the main grocery stores throughout the country, said Sam Calagione, founder of Dogfish Head’s, Fox News Digital.

Calagione said that many of the band’s fans, that is, “Deadheads”, “asked us to bring back a dog head and a grateful collaboration.”

The result was the grateful Juicy Pale Ale.

He remembered being 12 years old and having passed through an independent record store in Massachusetts when he first saw the cover of “Shakedown Street”. He said he had a “type of gigolo -looking cartoon character that swayed the streets” and knew he wanted “a piece of that”, so he used his assignment money to buy it.

Calagione has become friends with the band members, he said, and had the support of Rhino, the record label of Grateful Dead, and David Lemieux, the archivist and historian of the band for a long time.

The beer is intended to attract “Deadheads of all ages,” said Calagione, and “and the reception and traction he is getting is something we have not seen for a new beer release in decades.”

Calagione attributes it to a “base” marketing campaign that is helping to “really get the word directly to beer lovers and music lovers.”
