Nigerian senator suspended after accusing Godswill Akpabio of sexual abuse

Nigerian legislators have suspended a senator for six months, one day after she presented a request claiming that the president of the Senate had sexually harassed her.

Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan last Friday made the accusations against one of the country’s main politicians, Godswill Akpabio.

After dismissing his request for procedural reasons, the Ethics Committee recommended the suspension of Uduaghan, saying that he had brought the camera ridiculous.

Some senators argued that their suspension was reduced to three months, but most voted to continue with the six -month suspension recommended by the Ethics Committee.

Almost a week since Uduaghan’s interview with Arise TV, where he made the accusations for the first time, the problem has dominated the discussions in Nigeria.

Many people and highly located groups have requested transparent investigation.

On Wednesday, two groups of protesters gathered in the field of the Assembly in the capital, Abuja, one that supports Akpabio and the other in support of his colleague, singing “Akpabio must leave.”
