The AMB has ordered its regular heavyweight champion Kubrat Pulev (32-3, 14 KO) that is defended against #1 classified by Fabio Wardley (18-0-1, 17 kos). Pulev, 43, holds the secondary belt with the World Boxing Association, while Oleksandr Usyk is the main champion and the one with the most prestigious belt. It is under Wardley to bend down at this level to fight for a secondary belt.
The AMB should have eliminated its ‘regular’ belt a long time ago because it confuses fans and does nothing for those who have the title. Pulev captured his ‘regular’ AMB strap last December, defeating Mahmoud car for a unanimous decision of 12 rounds in Sofia, Bulgaria. It is a bad look that the AMB still has its ‘regular’ title.
Although the Pulev of 6’4 ″ looked good for someone of his age against a minor fighter, he is not yet close to the level he was years ago when the heavyweight champion of IBF, Ibo and Omb Wladimir Klitschko was then challenged for his three belts on November 15, 2014.
Pulev’s last solid victory against a good heavyweight champion of level B was in 2016, when he dominated Derek Chisora, hitting him for a divided decision of 12 rounds. All Pulev have overcome since then have been marginal combatants with little skill, and is not close to the top of the tree in the division.
It is not clear why Wardley’s promoter bothers that fighting Pulev for a belt that does not have real meaning. Fabio, 30, should be fighting the best possible opposition instead of challenging secondary belts.
Wardley is an eight -year -old professional, who does not have the type of talent that would allow him to overcome any of the high level heavyweights in the division. He lacks that spark that is needed to have the opportunity to overcome anyone.
Wardley looks more like a heavyweight at the British level, but he has been given a high rank based on his victories over other combatants of his country. The problem Fabio had with him The 38 -year -old officer Eric Molina In 2021 he showed where he is in talent. You could say when seeing Wardley’s performance against Molina that the wheels would come out if they were put with someone better than that.
Wardley comes from a first -round victory over Frazer Clarke of 271 pounds on October 12 in Riyadh. Clarke is not a worldwide fighter, and it is not a big problem that Wardley knocked out.
Instead of Wardley promoters aimed at Baratijas titles, they must focus on matching HI with these heavyweights to try to develop it in a significant way:
– Filip Hrgovic
– Bakhodir Jalalov
– Martin Bakole
– Richard Torrez Jr.
– Flying
– Frank Sánchez
– Andy Ruiz
I doubt that Wardley can overcome any of these fighters, but at least he would be fighting quality types that would attract the attention of fans. Fighting for secondary titles against a 43 -year -old Pulev is dumb. I don’t respect that movement. It simply makes fans see Wardley as without confidence to face good fighters in the division, and given how he looked against Molina, I can understand that.
