The South African government has said that it will not participate in the “diplomacy of counterproductive megaphones” after a new social media post by the president of the United States, Donald Trump, repeating his statement that Pretoria was confiscating land.
Trump extended his invitation to relocate those who seek to “flee (South Africa) for security reasons” to all farmers and offered citizenship.
South Africa has said previously that Trump has misunderstood the new land expropriation law of the country.
But he has already led the president of the United States to freeze financial aid to the country.
In response to the last statement, the government said South Africa was still committed to building a mutually beneficial trade and diplomatic relationship with the Trump administration.
A spokesman added that the relationship between the two countries must be based on mutual respect.
The new Land Law of South Africa was signed in January and allows land seizures without compensation in certain circumstances.
In his executive order last month that stopped the aid to South Africa, Trump alleged that there was discrimination against the A Afrikaner White minority, the descendants of the Dutch and French settlers.
The president of the United States said their lands were being seized without compensation, something that the South African government denies. He also offered a refugee status to Afrikaner farmers, despite promising to take energetic measures against immigration.
On Friday, Trump said any farmer, not just Afrikaner, could move to the United States.
The state of South African White farmers has long been a scream of meeting to the right and the extreme right of American politics.
Earth’s property has been a controversial issue in South Africa with most private culture lands owned by white people, 30 years after the end of the apartheid racist system.
There have been continuous calls for the government to address the agrarian reform and take care of the past injustices of racial segregation.
The new law allows expropriation without compensation only in circumstances in which it is “fair and equitable and in public interest” to do so.
US financing for HIV programs in South Africa ended last week.
The United States government has also withdrawn a climate agreement that aimed to get the richest countries to help a small developing group, including South Africa, to the transition from coal to green energy sources.
