Ottawa – Mark Carny has never held an elected office, but for years he has been promoted as a future leader of the Liberal Party of Canada, and if the survey goes as expected, it is the favorite to win the leadership race of his party on Sunday.
Carney, the former governor of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England is expected and the Goldman Sachs executive, to win the race to succeed Justin Trudeau as the 14th liberal leader and the 24th Canadian Prime Minister for the almost 400,000 party members.
Carney recently criticized President Donald Trump as a “thug” in a statement that issued in response to US tariffs that were put to the northern neighbor. “Canada will not bow to a stalker. We will not keep it, since the illegal tariffs of the United States hurt our workers and their families. As Canadians, we need to face this challenge as a united team.”
Informed Canada CBC Carney compared Trump with Voldemort by Harry Potter in reaction to the president’s comments on how to make Canada the State 51.
“When you think about what is at stake in these ridiculous and insulting comments of the president, of what we could be, I see this as the type of Voldemort of comments … as if I will not even repeat it, but you know what I am talking about.”

More than half of the Caucus of 153 members of the liberals in the House of Commons has supported him for the leader on the former ministers of the Chrystia Freeland and Karina Gould Cabinet, as well as the former member of Parliament (MP) Frank Baylis, the three served in the Trudeau government.
In fundraising, Carney has accumulated most campaign contributions with $ 1.3 million, or more than double what Freeland, a former Foreign Minister, raised last month.
Surveys have also shown that Carney is the favorite to become the next liberal leader. If he maintains that work and will automatically become the Canadian prime minister as the successor of Trudeau, he would help boost his party at the polls.
A survey conducted by the Angus Reid Institute, published on March 5, found that a liberal party led by Carney was only three points (37%) behind the Opposition Official Party of the opposition, with 40%.
The results of a Leger survey, published on March 3, reported a slightly broader margin, with the conservatives of 41% and the liberals, with Carney as leader, with 33%.
However, the same recent survey of Angus Reid also found that 43% of Canadians believe that Carney would be more appropriate, as prime minister, to deal with Trump, compared to Conservative leader Pierre Poilievreto 34%.

Even Pailievre has acknowledged that he will face the favorite in the liberal career in the next general elections, regularly calling him “Carney Carney”, with reference to the Canadian government consumer tax on carbon emissions that Carney initially supported. During his leadership career, the former governor of the Central Bank said he would replace him with an incentive program that rewards Canadians for “making more green decisions,” such as buying an energy efficiency apparatus.
In an open letter of January 26 to Carney, Pailievre asked him if he would be “different from the man who is trying to replace” and commit to “prohibit any previous Trudeau minister to serve in his cabinet” or “follow the same Trudeau agenda?”

Norman Spector, who served as chief of cabinet of the former progressive conservative prime minister Brian Mulroney, sees that Carney Car Carney policy status serves it well as prime minister when it comes to the White House.
“It doesn’t start with any luggage with Trump, and I think that is very, very important,” said Spector. He suggested that Carney meets the president as soon as possible to go to areas where Canada and the United States can collaborate closely, as in continental security.

Carney cannot be “Justin Trudeau in a different set of clothes or with a different curriculum,” said John Manley, former Vice Prime Minister and Canadian Liberal Finance Minister, Fox News Digital.
“It has to be a candidate for change and be seen as the serious guy who can face Donald Trump”, while pointing out that the question of the vote in Canada has changed from the unpopularity in Canada de Trudeau to Trump.
He is no longer a member of the Liberal Party of Canada, Manley said that Carney “promised to transfer the party to the center and make the economy its approach, and both would be welcome.”
Last Wednesday, Carney said he would eliminate national commercial barriers between the 10 provinces and three territories that would expand the Canadian economy up to $ 140 billion.
The same day, Trudeau and the provincial and territorial ministers agreed to do the same to reduce the dependence of trade with the United States in response to Trump administration rates in Canada.
Manley said the liberals “have to stop focusing on identity policy”, which according to him is “important for a small band of people.”

“We cannot continue fighting cultural wars. He seriously injured the Democrats in the United States“
He also said that Carney needs to quickly call the general elections before Parliament is scheduled to resume on March 24.
If it became a liberal leader on Sunday, Carney would also automatically become the designated prime minister since the liberals lead the government under Trudeau.
The formal transition date for Carney to assume that the position has not yet been determined, but he would be the first Canadian prime minister to have ever held the position chosen and need to win a seat in the House of Commons. Therefore, the need for a national vote is also personal, since it would allow Carney to run in a driving (district) still to be determined to become a member of Parliament.

Manley, who was running for Canadian liberal leadership in 2003, won by former Prime Minister Paul Martin, said Carney will need new faces in his cabinet.
He also sees Carney, a graduate from Harvard and Oxford universities with a doctorate in economics, as an advantage over Pailievre in the next elections.
Born in the territories of the northwest of Canada, Carney, 59, was also an executive of Goldman Sachs, who also served as the special envoy of the United Nations for the action and finance of the weather.

On the contrary, Pailievre, 45, “has done nothing more than politics for his adult life,” said Manley.
The opposition leader was first chosen as a conservative deputy for an Ottawa driving in 2004 when he was 24 years old.
But Manley said: “Pailievre is a very effective communicator”, and Carney has to “demonstrate that he can relate to the common man in the street.”

“Can you appeal to people who choose governments, many of whom do not particularly read books, and can’t even read newspapers?”
“Being a successful politician today requires a set of different skills than even in my time,” he said.
