The United States Secret Service shot a man out of the White House early after an “armed confrontation,” the service said in a statement.
He had previously received a notice from the Local Police about a “suicidal person who can be traveling to Washington DC from Indiana,” he said.
His officers approached a man who coincided with that description, “who soft a firearm,” added that they shot themselves. The man is now in the hospital in an “unknown,” he said.
President Donald Trump was not in the White House at that time, since he spends the weekend in his residence in Florida, Mar-a-Lago.
“As the officers approached, the individual wielded a firearm and an armed confrontation occurred, during which our staff fired the shots,” said the statement.
The incident is now under investigation by the Washington Metropolitan Police, which investigates all the shootings of the law in the Columbia district.
