“Shortly after joining the network, the exceptional skills and Craig’s creative eye were quickly recognized by our then head of the Washington office, Kim Hume, who assigned Craig to the White House unit, a role that fulfilled honorably throughout his career here,” wrote Scott and Wallace.
“An integral part of numerous fundamental events in the history of Fox News Channel, helped to film our first presidential interview with the then President Clinton and subsequently participated in almost all the presidential interviews thereafter,” Scott and Wallace continued. “He also directed the Fox Floor Chamber in the presidential conventions of 2000 and 2004, an extremely challenging work he really enjoyed.”

Scott and Wallace pointed out that Craig’s versatility was critical as part of the White House unit.
“He was at the forefront of the evolution of the analog to digital industry, dominating complicated transitions to LED lighting. There, he continued his reputation as a award -winning photographer and dedicated himself to perfecting the images he produced for news programming, placing everything from the elections to wars and natural disasters.
“It was his skill of solving problems in particular that made him the reference person for any complex challenge, mainly when it came to guaranteeing perfect shots of the White House,” Scott and Wallace continued. “In a remarkable case, Craig chose to act as an engineer during an important trip to the pool for Fox News when the then president Clinton visited Africa, deciding to help our team very young to achieve a great task instead of traveling in his traditional role, which would have allowed him to go to a safari and have a seat in the front row to a historical event in Africa.”

Savage was also crucial during the 2003 secret trip of then President George W. Bush to Iraq to visit the troops there for Thanksgiving and was assigned to President Trump’s shrunken trip to Afghanistan for Thanksgiving with the troops in 2019.
“His stealth and competition in the delivery of images in the strictest conditions were a testimony of their ability and dedication,” Scott and Wallace wrote.
In recent years, Craig hugged the skies as a drone pilot, contributing to hundreds of flight hours to the fox news collection efforts in stories that went from the southern border to natural disasters.
“He really left an indelible brand in Fox News and shaped the races of many,” Scott and Wallace wrote.

Savage is survived by his wife, the senior producer of Fox News, Anne Marie Riha, her children Jake, Andrew and Maxwell, the daughter -in -law Alexa, her stepdaughter Zachary and Carly Norins and her grandchildren Sloane and Evander Savage.
