WBO Light’s Welter weight champion, Teofimo López, minimized the threat presented by his mandatory Arnold Barboza Jr., which rules it as a mere “Pedro” To bigger things in their career when they fight on May 2 on Times Square in New York City.
Teo (21-1, 13 kos) does not want to admit that Barboza (32-0, 11 ko) is the greatest threat to him since his fight with Vasily Lomachenko in 2020.
Although López was later defeated by George Kambosos Jr. in 2021, and possibly lost to Sandor Martin and Jamaine Ortiz, he was supposed to win those fights easily. The judges gave gifts to López against Jamaine and Sandor, but he was well beaten.
Barboza Jr. has the type of talent that will put the judges in an impossible position: they do not dare to give the victory next to side A.
“This is the greatest struggle of his life, and this is just another trampoline in my career, and we did it,” said Teofimo López to Upper range boxingSpeaking of his OMB mandatory, Arnold Barboza Jr., “Put it in front of me and I will always beat him.
“We are going to show everyone on May 2, why we are the truth and why we are the myth. I look forward to what Arnold Barboza wants to bring to the table, but I guarantee that it is very different when you are in the ring with sure, ”said Teofimo.
Something made Teofimo feel that I could walk on water now, and I don’t know what. Was it your last fight against Steve Clocktt? With luck, López realizes that Top Rank was feeding a soft job after fighting Jamaine Ortiz. I needed a trust reinforcement after the way I looked in that fight.
Barboza looks unbeatable at this time, and will be needed at its best to win this fight. In the last two fights of Barboza JR, he beat Jack Catterall and José Ramírez. Any of those guys would have an excellent opportunity to overcome López.
