Kevin Bacon’s “The worst nightmare” implies one of its most emblematic movies.
While reflecting on his career during a panel at the South By Southwest Film Festival in Austin, Texas, the 66 -year -old actor talked about “Footloose”, the 1984 film that put him on the map and how the iconic song of the musical drama title continues to chase him more than 40 years after his release.
“My worst nightmare is to be at a wedding and the DJ puts on music and the song turns on and suddenly the wedding turns on me, and people forms a circle around me and I become a trained monkey,” Bacon explained. “So I went to the DJ and said: ‘Please, I don’t touch that song.’ It’s not that I don’t like the song.”
The song “Footloose”, co -written and recorded by Kenny Loggins for the movie, is played on the final scene of the film, and then received a nomination for the best original song in the 1985 Academy Awards.

The film stars Bacon as Ren McCormack, a teenager who moves from Chicago to a small west medium, where he is surprised to discover that dance and rock music have become illegal. Although “Footloose” presents many dance scenes, Bacon admits that “he was not a trained dancer.”
“By growing in Philadelphia, I loved dancing. In (New York), I would go to Study 54 And dance all night alone, and this was when he was a waiter. I always loved, “he told the multitude of SXSW.

Bacon continued: “But when they sent me the script, I didn’t know it was a dance movie. They had talked about choreographers (and) I thought:” I really don’t need a choreographer. You can simply light the music, and I can dance and have fun with that. “And they said: ‘Ah – na na, you don’t know what you are receiving'”.
In April 2024, Bacon returned to the Utah high school, where the film was filmed, after a social media campaign initiated by Payson High students. The campaign included videos of the students who recreate scenes from the film and published them in line with the hashtag #bacontopayson.

After the success of “Footloose”, Bacon continued starring successful films, including “Mystic River”, “Apollo 13”, “Some good men”, “Frost/Nixon” and many others.
